Folklore is the accumulated wisdom and art of the people living in a particular country. It encompasses the folk tales; tall tales; folk music, songs and dances; ballads, dramas; jokes; legends; myths; oral history; popular beliefs; charms; proverbs; sayings; riddles; superstition; customs and traditions; and, of course, the fairy tales of a particular nation that pass orally from generation to generation. We will discuss some of them in this work, in detail. The study of folk tales and fairy tales can be very rewarding, indeed, because these tales serve as a mirror of culture that is well worth looking into. If we examine our own folk tales and fairy tales and collect the folklore of a group from another culture, it will give us an educational experience of immeasurable value.
