Phraseological units are a set of words that form a single meaning and are used in a specific context. These units are an integral part of a language, and they often carry cultural and historical connotations.
Phraseological units are multi-word expressions that have a fixed form and meaning that cannot be deduced from the meanings of their individual words. Some characteristic features of phraseological units include:
Idiomaticity: Phraseological units are idiomatic, meaning that their meaning cannot be deduced from the literal meanings of the words that comprise them. For example, the phrase “kick the bucket” means to die, but the meaning cannot be deduced from the meanings of the individual words “kick” and “bucket”.
