Հատված

The slang is, probably, one of the most difficult aspects of the English language because it has many variations in every town and city. Every culture and even every region across the globe has its own slang. Some of them include the American slang, British slang, African slang, Australian slang, Spanish slang, Russian slang, etc. This paper aims to describe the use of slang in the Australian English. It also examines some factors affecting the intention to use it. The work consists of an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion and bibliography. The introduction explains the main purpose and the structure of our work.
Chapter one explains what we mean by saying “slang” and explores its origins and main sources. Chapter two gives a brief overview of the Australian English and discusses the use of slang in it. The conclusion summarizes the results of our research. The slang should not be confused with colloquialisms and jargon. It consists of some words that are non-standard in a given language and are generally spoken to show an inclusion in a certain social group, which can be very small or very large, from just a few friends to millions of people using the Internet or a particular website, whereas the second term refers to the language used by the people working in a particular area or having common interests. It is a kind of shorthand used to express ideas that are frequently discussed between the members of a group.
